These pictures are from the first time I had the 929 up in the mountains.  I was working 3rd shift at the time and was coming off a bad flu/cold.

My brother was going to ride up on his bike and wanted me to come along.  I was a bit dazed from being sick but went along anyways.  Maybe not the best idea.  For the most part the day went ok other than me being out of it from cold medicine.

On the way back down the mountain things almost got ugly.  In a long straight downhill we had a slow jeep in front of us.  I was lead at the time and went to pass.  Since my brothers bike doesn't have the pull the 929 does I got as much distance between me and the jeep so that he could safely pass and not have to worry about crowding in behind me and in front of the jeep.

As I passed over the center line back into the correct lane, the front end hit a bump in the road, sending the bike into a Tankslapper.  All I remember was a bunch of loud bangs and feeling my body getting jerked from left to right about 5 times (5 rights, 5 lefts) and seeing the headlight dancing all over.  Thought to myself that I had goofed it this time, and waited to see the mountain edge come up on me...thinking that I can't believe I was about to wreck the bike.  Feeling my wrists getting battered as they acted as the pivot from the bars to the rest of my body.....and then it stopped.  Bike went back straight and smooth.  Took a second for it to set in, but I was intact and sore as hell.  Pulled up to an intersection about 1mi down the road and just shook my head.  Took a while before my wrists stopped hurting.

Soon after I invested in a Steering damper.  I know that corrections in suspension and riding habits will keep this from happening.  But I'm not a great rider, and I am still working out how to do the suspension correct, so till I get that sorted out, the damper will be there to step in if things go south again.
