| Since moving to a new apartment I was in the
market for a Motorcycle alarm. I have always locked the bars and used
a disk lock and cover, but I wanted to go a little further in making sure
the bike stays put. After looking around the Scorpio matched up with
the features I was looking for, mostly for the pager feature. Install was simple (if you have the optional Honda harness), just clip in the 3 plugs located by the tail light, then attach the positive battery lead, done! All you have to do then is run the wires and find places to put the proximity sensor and Alarm unit. With the big trunk on the 929 this was a pretty easy task. So far it's simple to use though I'm not digging too deep into it's features yet. The Directions are simple enough to follow. Allows you to arm it with the shock and proximity sensor, or just the shock sensor. I tend to leave it just on the shock sensor since I don't want it chirping at everyone who passes by in the parking lot. Best part is the Alarm can easily be removed and reinstalled into any following bikes. Edit: Alarm has been installed for a few months now. The .5mi range on the remote is pretty optimistic. It has a very hard time keeping the signal inside buildings unless there are alot of windows or you are towards the side with the bike. My apartment is maybe 100ft from the bike and I'm lucky if I can keep it in range. Also with the range going in and out, it causes ALOT of false alarms. I'm sure if I was on the other side of the building it'd work fine, but I'm a little below the bike and on the opposite side of the building from the bike. Also at work it has issues keeping in range, though not nearly as bad as my lead lined apartment. |
