Damage from being backed into

The Girl on the M620 Dark dropped it twice in 2 different parking lots. Just not her day I guess. Here she sits (pre drops) in front of a sign that says something about "going down"   1991 lists the men on the boat in "The Perfect Storm"

Met up with a group of Ducati Monster riders this morning. 2 M900's, 2 M620's, and my lowly non-Ducati Monster (MINT) CBR 929rr. We ride out towards the ocean to a town called Gloucester (Remember the movie "the perfect storm"?....that's the town).

We pull up to once place, no one knows what's going on really. They then decided they want to park the bikes. I go to move my 929 so that I can park it and as I'm riding along the curb one of the guys on a M900 decides to back his bike in to park against the curb. With out looking he just backs up, right into me. Feeling his bike has stopped, he thinks he's on the curb. Instead his tire is on my knee and exhaust is scraping against my side fairing and engine cover. I'm yelling at him to move, but his exhaust was too loud and he had a helmet on. I ended up tapping him on the back to get his attention. He then pulls the bike away and parks it about 15 feet away.

Now if I had done this to someone else's bike, I would have rushed over, said I'm sorry in every language I knew, and would have made it clear that I'd pay for any damage done to the bike. Most people I think would react in the same way after causing damage to someone's pride and joy. Instead, he parks the bike and just starts chatting away, never even looked to see what he did to my bike. It wasn't till I came over and cracked a joke that "Your Ducati has some Honda on it" that he even acknowledged the situation. He came over said "Eh, sorry...you should be able to paint it (it's a decal)". Not in a very serious tone either, just kind of weakly said. Then he said "you should get a louder exhaust, I can't hear yours". Yes, it's my fault because my exhaust isn't too loud.

Being that I'm the guest in the Ducati group and had already endured a few Honda jokes here and there, all in good fun though...I didn't want to cause any drama. Didn't want to ruin the day for the rest of the guys. Considering the guy has shown no remorse, it will be like getting blood from a stone for him to take any fault....or even god forbid....cover the cost of damages. I just went real quiet and bit my tongue from saying much, decided I'll find out what the damages and costs before I do anything.

My friend Tarik (yellow M620) came over when no one else was around and was pretty unhappy with how things went down. He thought I was doing a good job at not flipping out like a ninja and killing everyone....but knew I was pretty livid that someone damaged my bike and blew it off like "eh....it's a Honda....oh well". What can you do eh. Made it 4 years with out a tiny bit of damage to the bike...and then this happens. He wants me to price out a new cover, new decal, and labor for both installs and let the guy know what it cost. Even though the decal is only $9 and the install I can do. The case I'm mad about, but a little scratch isn't worth a replacement. Just want to see if he reacts when he finds out the cost of the damages. I doubt I'll ever see a cent though.

I wish people could show a little more respect to other peoples stuff.
