Hass Motorsports HTEV Eliminator
Here is a pretty cool modification that is a cheaper alternative to a full exhaust. Great for people who want more power out of the stock exhaust, or people who have already spent the money on a Slip-on they like. Instead of having to ditch your slip-on and then pay $700+ on top of that for a full exhaust, you can just eliminate the HTEV valve and get similar results as a full system for a fraction of the cost ($136). This will make the exhaust so it's always a 4 into 2 into 1 configuration. Gains of around 7-9hp claimed. Even comes with a new Fuel map that is suited for where you live (mean alt, avg temp) if you have a PCIII.
Quality: This thing is made very well, 304 Stainless steel plates and tubeing. Nice welds, smoothed edges on the insides of the ports. Fits just as well as the stock valve did, no having to wrestle anything in. You can see in the pics that even the flanges mate up perfect with the stock exhaust. Didn't weigh it, but in hand it felt about the same weight as the stock HTEV.
Install: Nothing complex here really. Biggest trick is just getting the cables off the servo, will need to pull all the plastics off the left side of the bike. Found a wobble socket is helpful for getting the bolts off the top of the exhaust system. All you have to do is remove one of the exhaust hanger bolts on the rear half of the system to free things up enough for room to install, no playing with the headers.
Performance: Using the 500ft map supplied with the Eliminator, the bike hauls. Feels like a hair less grunt below 4k, but the bike pulls noticeably harder from 5k to redline. No need to see a Dyno chart to know that I gained some HP everywhere from the mid to high range. Bang for the buck, this mod has everything else beat. The butt-dyno is agreeing with the claimed 7-9hp gains as stated by the maker.
On a side note, Ryan Hass, the maker of this product is one of the best people I have dealt with so far. Very friendly and informative. He included 2 maps with my eliminator and hand written notes for each. Even went so far as to find the mean elevation of where I lived so that the fuel map would be correct. To be sure he gave me one for 1000 ft and one for 500ft. Just a great attention to detail. Thanks again.
