Micron Carbon Fiber Slip-on / Removed Exhaust cone

After doing bike weekend up in Laconia NH I finally caved and got a new exhaust can. I realized how quiet the stock exhaust was after hearing all the bikes with aftermarket slip-ons and full exhausts. I polled around for comments and thoughts on various exhaust makers and came to decide that Micron was the one I wanted to go with. At first I had ordered a gold Anodized can thinking it would look cool with the yellow bike and various gold bits on the bike already. But after photoshopping a pic of a gold micron onto one of my pics I got edgy and didn't know if it was going to look as great as it did in my head. At the last moment I called up the seller and changed the order to a Carbon Fiber can. In the end I'm glad I did as the Carbon fiber looks really nice on the bike. The exhaust note is great now, nice and throaty. Did feel a minor power gain in the top end. The weight of the can was alot lighter than stock. Also a nice thing is the Micron is a Oval can vs. the stock round one. Doesn't feel like it's sticking out as much as it did before. Before I even got the Micron I had cut the exhaust cone off the stock exhaust. For those who don't know there is some odd cone in the exhaust right at the flange where the slip on mounts. Alot of debate as to what the cone is, some say emissions, some say to smooth out a spot in the powerband. What ever the reason, I decided that I wanted to cut it out. Minor weight loss, less backpressure....all of this sounds like a good thing. Pulled out the dremel tool and went to work. 2 mins later it was off. The bike had alittle deeper note to it with the stock can. Can't say it was any faster but at least I have not seen any negative effects of it. I can't say "Do it" and I can't say to leave it be really. Either way it doesn't seem to do much.
