Scotts Steering Damper

For bikes with a short wheelbase and lots of power, such as the 929/954, headshake and tankslappers are a more common problem.  I've run into it once or twice myself, one time nearly ended in a wreck.  To make sure headshake doesn't progress to a full on tankslapper I installed a Scotts steering damper.  This thing is artwork, the quality and machining are top notch.  More adjustable than a standard rod damper.  Has high speed, low speed, and sweep adjustments.  Also in the event of a crash, the rotary style damper like the Scotts is more likely to make it out undamaged.  It's come in useful in a few spots, but usually you don't even realize that it just saved your ass.

A suggestion if you have an older Scotts damper with the raw steel tower pin (the upright pin by the gastank) is to order the gold anodized pin off the scotts website, and pick up a set of the security screws while your at it.  Mine had the steel one and it was rusting a year later.
