This would have to be one of my favorite things done to the bike so far. I figured it would be harder to do than it really was. I can't say I was too thrilled to be pulling apart a perfectly good motorcycle seat but in the end I'm glad I did it. The Kit you get from Second look is just the two Skins to go over the existing seat hardware. You need to start off by pulling all the staples off the back of the seat to remove the black seat covering. Once that is done you mark the center line of the seat and then line up the nicely placed crosshairs that second look stamps onto the bottom of the cover to help you line it up. I actually didn't do this step as I was pretty sure I had the center with out using the crosshairs. I stapled the material on the round end of the seat to the backing with one staple, and then stretched the material over the flat end of the seat and put one staple there. Then used one staple to secure each side. This way I could put the seat on the bike and line things up with the paint if needed. Once happy with the position I slowly made my way around the seat pulling and stapleing the material. The rear seat wasn't too hard and turned out perfect. Just took time and alot of staples. The front seat was alittle more interesting since it had more seams on it. The two problem areas are on the curve where the tank and seat meet, and on the two flaps that cover the mounting bolts on each side of the seat. I got it to a point I was happy with it. Could use some work to get the seams to lay better but I'm going to leave it be for now and let the material stretch some and then pull the staples and try for a better fit. I didn't trim the front seat for this reason. You may also notice that I retained the black strap from the origional setup. Reason is that the seat plastic actually has indentations for the strap in the sides. Looked strange to me but I may reconsider and pull the strap off and just deal with them. In the kit it mentions putting packing tape over them, I regretfully didn't. As far as materials and construction of the seat skins, it's great. No complaints from me. Thicker material than the stock skin. The color matching is DEAD on. I'm very pleased with how this one turned out. I keep finding myself walking out to the garage to look at it.
